Slide 1

The soldiers crucified Jesus by nailing Him to a cross. Above Him, they put sign on the cross which read, ‘Jesus the King of the Jews’. Then they gambled for His clothes. On either side of Jesus two thieves were also crucified. Jesus spoke out to God saying, ‘Father forgive them, they don’t know what they are doing.’ – Slide 1

Slide 2

People passing by shouted at Jesus, ‘If you are the Son of God come down from the cross!’ The Chief Priests also mocked Him and jeered, ‘He saved others but He cannot save Himself!’ – Slide 2

Slide 3

One of the thieves next to Jesus looked at Him and said, ‘If you are the Christ save us!’ But the other thief said, ‘We deserve to be punished but this Man is innocent.’ Then he spoke to Jesus and said, ‘Remember me when you enter your kingdom.’ Jesus told him ‘Today you will be with Me in Paradise.’ – Slide 3

Slide 4

Jesus’ mother and a disciple called John were standing looking at Him. Jesus said to Mary, ‘Look, your son!’ Then looking at John, Jesus said, ‘Look, your mother!’ From that moment, John took Mary to his house to be part of his family. – Slide 4

Slide 5

About noon, darkness covered the land and Jesus cried out, ‘My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?’ Later, He cried out once more ‘It is finished! Father, I commit my Spirit to You.’ Then Jesus breathed His last breath and gave up His Spirit. – Slide 5

Slide 6

At that moment the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom and the earth shook and the rocks split. Tombs opened and many saints who had died came back to life. – Slide 6

Slide 7

A centurion who saw all these things said, ‘Truly this was the Son of God!’ When the soldiers saw that Jesus was already dead they pierced His side with a spear. – Slide 7

Slide 8

A secret disciple of Jesus called Joseph from Arimathea and Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came and took the body of Jesus down from the cross. They wrapped Him in a linen cloth with spices and carried Him to a garden where there was a new tomb that had never been used. – Slide 8

Slide 9

Then the two men placed Jesus in the tomb and rolled a great stone across the entrance. Mary Magdalene and some other women stood watching where Jesus was laid. – Slide 9
