Jesus continued His ministry around the Sea of Galilee. Sometimes it became very difficult for Jesus and His disciples because of the large groups of people crowding around them. – Slide 1
2
After speaking to the crowd, it was time for Jesus to leave. He told His disciples to prepare to travel to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. This way they could escape the large crowds following them. – Slide 2

A scribe realised what Jesus was about to do. So he told Jesus that he would follow Him anywhere. Jesus said; ‘The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.’ – Slide 3

Jesus’ eternal home was with His Father in heaven. He came to earth to seek and save the lost, not to build a wonderful home for himself. The King of Kings had no royal throne on earth; it was in heaven. – Slide 4

Another who wanted to become a disciple told Jesus that before he could go with Him he had to go home and bury his father. ‘But Jesus said to him, Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.’ – Slide 5

As they set off across Galilee the weather was calm. Quickly and without warning a violent storm erupted putting the small boats in grave danger. Some of the men were experienced fishermen so they tried to control the boats. – Slide 6
7
During all the violence of the storm Jesus was sound asleep in the boat. The disciples were just the opposite. They were panicking, not knowing what to do. – Slide 7
8
As they were afraid that they would all die they decided to wake Jesus. ‘Save us, Lord we are perishing!’ Jesus asked, ‘Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?’ – Slide 8
9
Jesus got up, rebuked the storm and immediately the wind stopped and the waves became perfectly calm. God created the heavens and the earth by His Word (Genesis 1). Likewise Jesus calmed the sea by His Word. – Slide 9
10
The disciples experienced a terrible trial in their lives and God was with them but they had been overcome by fear. In amazement they exclaimed, ‘What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?’ – Slide 10
