After running off when Jesus was arrested, Peter then followed at a distance with another disciple. – Slide 1

Jesus was taken into the High Priest’s house. – Slide 2

As the other disciple was known to the High Priest, he was let into the courtyard. He arranged for a servant to let Peter into the High Priest’s courtyard too. – Slide 3

It was cold and Peter sat by a fire where servants and officials were warming themselves. – Slide 4

A servant girl saw Peter and said, ‘You are one of this man’s disciples aren’t you?’ Peter denied it. ‘I don’t know what you are talking about,’ he lied. – Slide 5

A little while later someone said to the people there, ‘This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.’ Peter denied it using an oath. ‘I don’t know this man,’ he insisted. – Slide 6

After a while, those standing there went up to Peter and said, ‘You must be a disciple of Jesus, your Galilean accent gives you away.’ – Slide 7

Peter began to curse and swore to them, ‘I don’t know this man.’ – Slide 8

Immediately a rooster crowed. The Lord turned round and looked at Peter. Peter remembered the warning Jesus had given that he would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed. – Slide 9
