Jesus then sat in the boat and taught the crowds standing on the shore. He taught them many parables and this is one of them. – Slide 2

Jesus said, ‘A farmer went out to sow seed to grow wheat.’ – Slide 3

‘As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up.’ – Slide 4

‘Some fell on rocky ground.’ – Slide 5

‘But when the wheat shoots came up, the plants withered under the burning sun because they had no moisture.’ – Slide 6

‘Other seed fell among thorns.’ – Slide 7

‘But as the young wheat shots grew, the thorns and weeds choked the plants.’ – Slide 8

Later Jesus explained the meaning of this parable to His disciples. <br/>‘The seed is like the words God speaks to us through the Bible.’ – Slide 11
12
‘Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.’ – Slide 12
13
‘Those on the rocky ground are like those who hear God’s word and want to obey. But they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.’ – Slide 13
14
‘The seed that fell among thorns are like those who hear God’s words but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.’ – Slide 14
15
‘However, the seed that falls among good soils are like those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.’ – Slide 15
