Jesus told this story to help us understand our need to turn to God and obey Him.
‘The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer sowing good wheat seed in his field.’ – Slide 1
2
‘But one night as he slept, his enemy came and sowed the seeds of nasty tasting plants called tares among the wheat.’ – Slide 2
3
‘When the wheat crop began to grow, the tares grew among them.’ – Slide 3
4
‘The farmer’s men came and told him, “Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of nasty tares!’
Now it is hard to tell wheat and tares apart as they are growing. Wheat seed are used to make the bread we eat but if you eat tares it will make you feel very ill and giddy.
The servants asked the farmer, ‘Do you want us to pull out the tares?’ – Slide 4
5
‘No,’ the farmer replied. ‘You’ll hurt the wheat if you do. Let both grow together until the harvest.’ – Slide 5
6
‘Then when they are fully grown, I will tell the reapers to sort out the tares and burn them.’
The farmer knew that by harvest time the tares would grow taller than the wheat and look different to the good wheat seeds. – Slide 6
7
The farmer then went on to say that once the tares had been removed, the reaper would then gather the wheat and stored it his barn. – Slide 7
