Jesus led away

Jesus and two criminals are taken to be crucified.

Then the Governor’s soldiers took Jesus. They stripped Him, put a scarlet robe around Him, a crown of thorns on His head and kneeling down before Him they mocked Him, ‘Hail King of the Jews.’ – Slide 1

They spat on Him and took the staff and struck Him repeatedly on the head. – Slide 2

When they had mocked Him they stripped Him of the robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him away to crucify Him. – Slide 3

As they led Jesus away, they seized Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country. – Slide 4

They placed the cross on his back… – Slide 5

… and made him carry it behind Jesus. – Slide 6

A great number of the people followed Him, among them women who were mourning and wailing for Him. – Slide 7

Jesus turned to them and said, ‘Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me. Weep for yourselves, for your children, for this is certain. The days are coming when men will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore children and the breasts that never nursed.’ – Slide 8

Two criminals were also led away to be executed with Jesus. – Slide 9

They came to a place called Golgotha, which means, ‘the place of a skull’. – Slide 10
