Every day, some friends of a man who had been paralysed since birth carried him to the temple. The man was allowed to sit and beg for money at the Beautiful Gate as people entered the temple. – Slide 1

One day Peter and John were on their way into the temple and the paralysed man begged them for some money. Peter said to the man, ‘Look at us!’ The man looked at them hoping for some money. Peter said to him: ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ – Slide 2

When Peter and John entered the temple courts in Solomon’s Colonnade, the man followed and continued to leap high and praise God. People recognised him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate and were amazed. – Slide 6

Peter and John saw people staring at them and explained that it was not through their power this man was able to walk, but that it was through Jesus who had risen from the dead. It was through faith in Jesus' name that the man was healed. – Slide 7

Priests and soldiers arrived on the scene and were very angry with Peter and John for preaching about the resurrection of Jesus. They quickly had Peter and John imprisoned. – Slide 8

The next day the whole great council of Jewish leaders met to interrogate Peter and John. The high priest shouted: – Slide 9

‘By what power or name have you made this man well?’ <br/>Peter answered, ‘Jesus has done this!’ – Slide 10

This miracle is through faith in the name of the Son of God - Jesus! God has raised Jesus whom you crucified from the dead. God has brought Jesus to life again and through faith in Him this man is able to walk! – Slide 11

The Grand Council now let Peter, John, and the man go away while they decided what to do next. No-one could deny that a great miracle had happened. – Slide 12
13
They later summoned Peter, John and the lame man back for their verdict. The high priest demanded, ‘You must not speak or teach anything in the Name of Jesus. From now on it is forbidden!’ – Slide 13
14
But Peter and John answered that they must obey God more than men! They had to keep telling people about Jesus. – Slide 14
15
‘Get out of here and keep quiet about Jesus!’ the High Priest shouted. ‘Otherwise you will be punished.’ – Slide 15

Peter, John, and the healed man went quickly to the other disciples to tell them what had happened. They prayed that God would give them the power to speak boldly about Jesus and do miracles in His name. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Peter saw many more people become Christians and sick people were healed in the Name of Jesus. – Slide 16
