Moses had married a wife from Cush, modern day Ethiopia. Moses sister, Miriam and his brother Aaron, the High priest, were not happy and began to mutter and complain about Moses. – Slide 1

‘Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?’ they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” The Lord heard their complaining. – Slide 2

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else living at that time. – Slide 3

The Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, ‘Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.’ All three of them did so. Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud which stood at the entrance to the tent. – Slide 4

The Lord then summoned Aaron and Miriam to step forward. They obeyed. The Lord then said, ‘I reveal myself to prophets in dreams and visions, but I speak face to face with Moses. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?’ The Lord was angry with them both. – Slide 5

When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous—it was as white as snow. – Slide 6

When Aaron saw that Miriam had a defiling skin disease, he pleaded with Moses, ‘Please don’t hold this sin against us. Don’t let Miriam have flesh that looks half eaten away.’ – Slide 7

So Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘Please, God, heal her!’ The Lord replied, ‘Confine her outside the camp for seven days in disgrace; after that she can be brought back.’ – Slide 8

So Miriam was expelled outside the camp for seven days. – Slide 9

When she returned, her skin was clean and she was welcomed back into the camp and her family. – Slide 10
