John the Baptist began his work for God in the desert. Everyday people came to him and were baptised in the River Jordan for the forgiveness of their sins. – Slide 1

One day, whilst John was baptising, Jesus came to the river. He walked into the water towards John because He wanted to be baptised. – Slide 2

John did not want to baptise Jesus because he knew Jesus had never sinned. But Jesus said to him ‘Let it happen because we must do everything God asks us to do.’ – Slide 3

So John obeyed and baptised Jesus in the River Jordan in front of everyone. – Slide 4

As soon as Jesus came up out of the water after being baptised, heaven opened and the Spirit of God, looking like a dove, came down and landed on Jesus. Then a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.’ – Slide 5
