Jesus raises Lazarus to life.

Jesus is called to Bethany, a village near Jerusalem as Lazarus is ill. He and his sisters, Martha and Mary, are friends of Jesus. But Jesus delays before setting off. When Jesus arrives in the village, He hears that Lazarus was buried four days ago. <br/>Martha rushes to see Jesus. – Slide 1

Lord! If you had been here, my brother would not have died!’ – Slide 2

Jesus tells Martha, ‘Your brother shall rise again, Martha.’ – Slide 3

Martha replies, ‘Yes, I know. He will live again at the resurrection on the last day.’ – Slide 4

Jesus then declares, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live. Do you believe that Martha?’ – Slide 5

Martha answers, ‘Yes Lord! I believe that you are the promised Messiah, the Son of God.’ – Slide 6

Martha returns home to get her sister Mary. When Mary reaches Jesus she falls at his feet and says, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ <br/>Jesus sees her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, He is deeply moved in spirit and trou-bled. – Slide 7

‘Where have you laid him?’ Jesus asks. <br/>‘Come and see, Lord,’ came the reply.  <br/>Then Jesus weeps. <br/>The Jews say, ‘See how he loved him!’ <br/>Others mutter, ‘Could He not have prevented Lazarus dying? – Slide 8

The dead are wrapped in cloths and laid in rock tombs… <br/>Jesus announces, ‘Remove the stone!’ – Slide 9

Martha protests, ‘But his body has been dead for four days. There will be a terrible smell. – Slide 10

Jesus replies, ‘If you believe, you will see the glory of God’. So they take away the stone. – Slide 11

Jesus looks up and says, ‘Father, I am doing this so that the people will know who I am.’ <br/>Then He calls out loudly, ‘Lazarus, come out!’ – Slide 12

The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. – Slide 13
