In the days before Passover Jesus speaks to the people in the temple. He predicts that Jerusalem will fall. Everyone will have to flee. But he will keep on loving the people. – Slide 1

Jesus: ‘I’ve looked forward to eating this Passover meal with you before I suffer.’ – Slide 6

Jesus: ‘People in authority make others serve them, but in My Kingdom it will be the other way around.’ – Slide 7

Jesus: ‘If you want to be a leader you must first learn to serve.’ <br/>Jesus takes off his outer tunic and wraps a towel around his waist. There is not a servant in the upper room to wash the feet of the guests. – Slide 8

Jesus pours water into a basin and begins to wash His disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel. – Slide 9

Peter protests: ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet?’ <br/>Jesus: ‘You do not realise what I am doing, but later you will understand.’ <br/>‘No,’ says Peter, ‘you shall never wash my feet.’ <br/>Jesus answers, ‘Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.’ – Slide 10

Peter: ‘Then, Lord, wash not only my feet but my hands and my head as well!’ – Slide 11

Jesus: ‘Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet as their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.’ – Slide 12

For Jesus knew Judas was going to betray Him, and that was why he said not everyone was clean. – Slide 13

Jesus is troubled in spirit and testifies, ‘Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.’ <br/>Peter signals to John who is next to Jesus to ask who the betrayer is. <br/>Jesus answered, ‘It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish. <br/>Jesus dips a piece of bread and gives it to Judas (this fulfils the prophecy of Psalm 41:9). – Slide 14

Jesus tells Judas, ‘What you are about to do, do quickly.’ <br/>As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. The disciples thought Judas, as Treasurer, had gone to buy something or give money to the poor. Only Jesus knew Judas had left to betray Him. – Slide 15
