While they were eating, Jesus said, ‘One of you will betray me.’ – Slide 1

One by one they said, ‘Surely you don’t mean me?’ – Slide 2

‘It is one of the twelve,’ Jesus replied, ‘one who dips into the bowl with me. It would be better for him that he had not been born.’ – Slide 3

Judas, the one who would betray Him, asked, ‘Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?’ ‘You have said so,’ replied Jesus. ‘What you are about to do, do quickly.’ Nobody listening understood why Jesus said this to Judas or why he left the room. They thought, as Judas was in charge of the money, Jesus had told him to buy something or give money to the poor. – Slide 4

Jesus took the cup and gave thanks. ‘Take this and divide it among you for I will not drink wine again until the Kingdom of God comes,’ He told them. – Slide 5

He took the bread and gave thanks. – Slide 6

Then He broke it saying, ‘This is my body given for you. Do this to remember me.’ The bread was passed around for each to break and eat. – Slide 7

Jesus then took the cup and when He had given thanks, passed it to them. ‘This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many.’ – Slide 8

They all drank from it. – Slide 9

Jesus announced. ‘A new commandment I give to you that you love each another as I have loved you. Everyone will know you are my disciples if you love one another.’ – Slide 10

Jesus warned them they would all disown Him. It is written, He said, ‘I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.’ – Slide 11

‘But after I have risen I will go ahead of you into Galilee.’ – Slide 12

Peter protested, ‘Even if the others desert you, I will not!’ – Slide 13

‘Truly I tell you,’ Jesus answered, ‘Today, yes tonight, before the rooster crows twice you will deny me three times.’ – Slide 14

Peter insisted, ‘Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.’ The others all said the same. When they had sung a hymn they went out to the Mount of Olives. – Slide 15
